Originally the name Shining Knight had come to me, this was close to 12 years ago when I was just starting this journey of self. But truth be told the word ‘Shining’ is romanticized, me wanting to be a hero in my story and everyone else’s. Looking polished and clean, the ‘perfect’ man.
However, going through life learning about myself and others I have coached these past 12 years, there is no perfect human. We all come with scars, we all carry past trauma, we have hurt others and others have hurt us in life.
The word Modern to me means evolved, that we are growing, learning, becoming more aware, that we are pursuing our passion, our purpose and giving more care and attention to our souls and the other beautiful souls on this earth. That we are receiving joy from the daily actions we have chosen through our passion and purpose.
Our ancestors did not lead the lives they did, for us to just go through that same toxic cycle every day. That we have a choice, we have an abundance of anything we want, if we choose to reach for it and accept it!
I have been connected to the thought of a Knight, they’re wearing a layer of armour and holding a shield. They have been through life’s toughest battles and have been the most trusted, honourable, respected, dependable, courageous of men, most would agree a leader of men, a first into battle type persona, follow me and I will lead you to victory.
A knight is wise to all of life’s experiences, yet knows they can be hurt. They know the layers of armour and shield have always protected them but hide their identity. The problem with this, no one can ever see who you really are, what you look like on the inside, underneath those layers, the beauty that you behold, is the man you are meant to be.
Creating a space for men to feel safe to be open to share and be themselves. So men will not be hyper-masculine because of insecurities, will not be toxic in their relationships because their fathers never showed them any love. Will not be sexist, racist because of learned behaviour, will not be closed off and shut down because of past scars. That every day is a new day, they will choose to be better, will choose to love themselves and others!
So men will want more of themselves, create more of themselves through purpose and action. Dropping the shield and shedding the armour to fully show himself, the scars and all. Layer by layer he will lead and march into the unfamiliar territory of the soul, the mind and heart! To create unimaginable joy within himself and exude it to others close to him. To lead with integrity and be a caring, trusting, honourable, respectful man!
And Modern Knight was born!
